Janet A. Welch, DVM, Diplomate ACVS

Dr. Welch graduated with Honors and Distinction from Cornell University in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University in 1990. She continued her education in order to specialize in surgery. She trained as an intern in Darien, Connecticut for one year and then completed a 3 year surgical residency at Tufts University from 1992 to 1995. Dr. Welch taught surgery to many Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine graduates during the 13 years she was a professor at the college. Dr. Welch joined the talented staff of Carriage Hills Animal Hospital in 2008. Dr. Welch is a board certified member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).

Dr. Welch is especially interested in the management of patients who have been traumatically injured. She is qualified to repair any fracture or other orthopedic condition and has spent years studying the most effective way to keep patients free from pain following an injury or surgical procedure. Dr. Welch is also highly trained in soft tissue surgery including abdominal surgeries, ears, nose and throat surgery, and soft tissue and orthopedic cancer surgery. Dr. Welch has trained with internationally acclaimed plastic surgeons and emphasizes cosmetic closures of surgical wounds and incisions.

Mrs. Beasley is a terrier cross, Stripe is a Pit Bull-Boston Terrier cross, and Stormy is a German Shepard. They also have 2 red-eared slider turtles named Snappy and Finn.   “We've been taking our terrier to Carriage Hills since we moved to Montgomery. The staff are very friendly and take great care of our dog. Our dog was injured one evening just before business hours ended. I called expecting to ask about an emergency vet but they told me to bring my dog in even though they were closed. They took great care of her!  I highly recommend Dr Scott Griffin and his staff!”
