Compassionate Care for Pet Cancer Patients

We know you never want to hear the word “cancer” when it comes to your pet. Rest assured that you have made the most compassionate choice for pet cancer treatment with Carriage Hills Animal Hospital.

We know that many pets respond quite well to cancer treatments without the disturbing side effects common in human patients. Nevertheless, we take special care to ensure the comfort and security of every cancer patient and to provide information, understanding, and support for each owner.

Comprehensive Pet Cancer Care

At Carriage Hills Animal Hospital, our experienced staff handles cancer diagnosis, surgical treatment, chemotherapy, and referrals for radiation therapy with compassion and dignity. Our pet cancer treatment strategy is multifaceted, allowing for the best possible outcomes.

  • Accurate diagnosis—With our wide array of advanced diagnostic technology, we are able to quickly reach an accurate diagnosis and tumor staging, allowing us to build the best plan of attack against your pet’s cancer. Many times, biopsies can even be obtained in a minimally invasive manner through the use of our laparoscopic equipment or ultrasound. We also offer access to MRI services when needed.
  • Surgical treatment—Often, the foundation of cancer treatment is surgical removal of cancerous tissues. Our skilled and experienced surgeons are adept at performing these types of procedures, allowing us to effectively excise much or all of the diseased tissue.
  • Chemotherapy—Depending on the type and severity of your pet’s cancer, chemotherapy may be a cornerstone of your pet’s treatment plan. A carefully tailored chemotherapy protocol will be created for each patient for optimum success.
  • Radiation therapy—Should your pet require radiation therapy as part of a cancer treatment plan, we are happy to refer you to a radiation oncologist at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. We work closely as a team to provide a comprehensive treatment protocol, and our veterinarians continue to monitor your pet’s progress and provide support throughout the process.

Your Carriage Hills veterinary team offers extensive experience in addressing the many needs of patients and pet owners dealing with cancer. Dr. Ann Allen Salter [link to Staff Bio] has a particular interest in medical oncology with extensive experience in the diagnosis, staging, and use of chemotherapeutic drugs in companion animals.
